Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has conceded to rival Barack Obama in the Mississippi primary.

Governor Beebe and the natural gas industry have reached an agreement to raise the severance tax, and former Arkla chairman Sheffield Nelson, who has his own initiated act to do the same thing says it is acceptable. Now all they have to do is get it past State Senator Bob Johnson and the so-called State Senate Brotherhool. . The new programwill eventually bring in $100 million annually.

Dillard’s has laid off 39 employees in its Little Rock corporate office, The sources tell ArkansasBusiness.com more layoffs are expected.

Arkansas’ January unemployment rate climbed one-tenth of a percent to 5.6%, well above the national average of 4.9%.  One year ago, the state’s jobless rate stood at 5.3%.

10 votes was the margin of defeat for a tax increase to fund a football program in Harmony Grove. Benton will begin a $34 million public school improvement program. Norphlet, Cabot and Viola voters also said “yes.”

Pulaski County will hold a public hearing on proposed Lake Maumelle Watershed regulations and updates to the county’s subdivision codes on March 24, a day before the planning board expects to vote on the changes.

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s office has a new $20,000 gizmo that can scan thousands of license plates, even moving 75 mph. Insurance companies chipped in on it.

Three men — including two Arkansas Tech University football players — have been arrested after authorities said the men fired at least 30 rounds into the air from a car near James Park in west central Russellville. No one was injured, according to police. Yell County officials expect an announcement this week on charges in connection with a gun fight at the Dardanelle Armory. They have previously said some Arkansas Tech football players are likely suspects.

Nolan Richardson is out of the picture in ASU’s search for a head basketball coach.
