Industrial output fell in February by the biggest amount in four months. The price of diesel is up; oil is down to $105.68 a barrel. Investors are worried about the big banks.

Johnelle Hunt will retire from the board of directors of Lowell-based J.B. Hunt Transport Services after its May 1 annual meeting.

Weyerhaeuser Co. announced the sale of its containerboard packaging and recycling business to International Paper for $6 billion in cash. That involves plants in Russellville and Fort Smith.

It will take 75% of lawmakers to pass an increase in the natural gas severance tax, and Governor Beebe says that level has not been reached yet. He won’t call a special session until it is.

Tim Griffin, former U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas, is back. He heads a group called Arkansas Coalition of Concerned Taxpayers (ACCT) to campaign against an increase in the natural gas severance tax.

Expect Attorney General Dustin McDaniel to begin a crackdown on payday lenders. There have been a couple of State Supreme Court decisions setting the state and a press conference is scheduled for this morning.

Lt. Gov. Bill Halter’s campaign to create a state lottery to fund college scholarships raised $110,000 in February

Pulaski County may have made progress keeping track of money but officials say they intend to wait a while longer before asking for a tax increase, again.

The Clinton School of Public Service and the University of Arkansas’ business college announced a new dual-degree program.

Former LSU basketball coach John Brady continues to be the leading candidate to replace Dickey Nutt at Arkansas State.

Westside Middle School gunman Mitchell Scott Johnson pleaded innocent to theft and fraud charges.

A sheriff’s deputy who avoided injury destroying bombs in Iraq for a year was ambushed and wounded by a Crawford County man with a shotgun
