A 77 year old Prairie County man is recovering at UAMS from a pit bull attack that left deep bites on his arms and legs. C. S. Sample was checking his mail when 3 dogs – 2 pit bulls – attacked. All three dogs have been put to sleep. Authorities are considering what charges might be filed against the owners.

Levees on the St. Francis River in Craighead County are holding. The White River will crest at Clarendon today and St. Francis over the weekend. FEMA inspectors are inspecting storm damage statewide.

U. of A. Trustees meet today and may raise tuition by 5%.

A state senate committee will resume deliberations next week in the dispute over a legislative runoff election in District 16. Expect some election reform legislation to come out of this.

Census Bureau estimates rank the Springdale-Fayetteville-Rogers metropolitan statistical area 27th among the nation’s fastest-growing regions.

U.S. District Judge Susan Webber Wright has dismissed a federal lawsuit that challenged Arkansas’ authority to force the consolidation of the financially troubled Eudora School District with the neighboring Lakeside School District in 2006.

Little Rock restaurant owner Mark Abernathy says Little Rock should cut its tourism tax at restaurants and raise its general city sales tax.

A vehicle stolen in a carjacking and abduction outside a Wal-Mart Supercenter in Conway was used the next night in a drive-by shooting in North Little Rock

Potlatch Corp. will close the company’s lumber mill in Prescott, due to poor market conditions. The Prescott mill, which Potlatch has owned since 1966, employs 182

Forbes magazine lists Jonesboro among the best small places to do business. It’s number 46 nationally.
