Governor Beebe is getting hard questions about the proposed natural gas severance tax. He says 52 percent of the wells in the Fayetteville Shale will be taxed at the full rate by 2012.

River levels are coming down slowly. There may be more rain today, but it will move through quickly and not cause more flooding.Of course, many families are still recovering from tornaodes two months ago.
Pulaski County will have a chance to regulate development on Lake Maumelle before the state Pollution Control and Ecology Commission takes action. Central Arkansas gets most ot its drinking water from Lake Maumelle.
By May, Garland Camper will be the new Pulaski County Coroner. Mark Malcolm has had the job for the past 13 years and has been in the office for 22. He will begin an international consulting firm.
Maumelle will get $300,00 from Homeland Security to hire more firefighters.
The U.S. Attorney says he will not appeal the home detention sentence of former Wal-Mart executive Tom Coughlin, who recently performed “community service” by attending a party at which alcohol was served and firearms were auctioned.
Official issued warrants for an Alma doctor accused of sexually assaulting two women. Alma police have been investigating Dr. Clarence Jay Arendall since two women came forward claiming he assaulted them, police said.
