Crude oil prices closed today below $114 per barrel.  The U.S. average for unleaded gasoline is $3.62 per gallon. Murphy Oil of El Dorado saw triple profit in the first quarter compared to last year.

Sen. Mark Pryor will chair a committee that will work to combine House and Senate versions of the most sweeping product-safety legislation in a generation.

In a rare clash with the state’s business establishment, Sen. Mark Pryor on Wednesday said the Arkansas Chamber of Commerce has “probably exaggerated” claims about the impact of a controversial labor union bill to the state economy. Pryor supports a measure to allow workers to form unions without secret ballot elections.

14 people are at area hospitals including 10 Pulaski County students after their school bus was hit by a car.  The school bus driver faces charges of careless driving.  The accident happened in front of Joe T. Robinson middle school on highway 10 in west Little Rock.

Federal agents arrested 24 suspected illegal immigrants working on a construction project near the Little Rock National Airport. Agents raided a construction project at the site of Supermarine, a company that provides fuel and supplies to corporate and private aircraft.

The lead sponsor of a proposed initiated act aimed at cutting state services to illegal aliens questioned Attorney General Dustin McDaniel’s motives Wednesday after hearing the attorney general had again rejected the measure’s wording.

Gov. Mike Beebe says the beleaguered Martin Luther King Jr. Commission has an unwieldy structure in need of an overhaul.

Lt. Gov. Bill Halter, along with a member of his staff and a state trooper, helped a wheelchair-bound woman off the porch of a burning home.

The administrator of a state-subsidized child care program for low-income families recommends that eligibility requirements for the program be tightened to reduce costs.

A Searcy County circuit judge should have considered the mental health improvements of a parent before ending her child custody rights, the state Court of Appeals said Wednesday.

Southwestern Electric Power Co. has begun removing trees and delivering equipment and materials to the site in Hempstead County where it intends to build a coal-fired electric generation plant.

City officials have discovered that Jonesboro had forgotten bank accounts worth more than a quarter million dollars.

A soldier accused of beating his infant stepson has been charged with first-degree murder in his death. Army Spc. Patrick W. West was arrested earlier this month and charged with battery after he called 911 to report his 5-month-old stepson was no longer breathing.
