Oil futures surged to a record of more than $120 a barrel. That means everything costs more.

Delta Air Lines officials say a merger with Northwest Airlines would make it easier for Arkansans to reach destinations worldwide without paying higher prices, but others are skeptical.

The latest weather service count says 11 tornados swept through Friday. One twister in Conway, Van Buren and Cleburne counties was on the ground for 45 miles. Governor Beebe has already classified eleven counties as state disaster areas after Friday’s storms.

UCA President Lu Hardin told Roby Brock he thinks the lottery proposal likely will pass, and Hardin remains neutral. Hardin says an Opinion Research Associates survey shows 62 % of Arkansans favor the proposal.

The city of Little Rock will wait on selling $32 million of library bonds you approved late last year. Timing of that election has been a concern.

The Conway school district will hae no more budget cuts and the salary freeze is off.

State Rep’ Stever Harrlllson’s Under the Dome blog has an item about a congressional push to regulate sales of Medicare suppliment polices. Seem some high pressure sales techniques get older folks to buy polices that are not appropriate.

The Junction Bridge, converted for pedestrian and bike use, will open to the public with a ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 17.

Mitchell Johnson was 13 when he and an 11-year-old, Andrew Golden, killed four girls and a teacher at Jonesboro Westside Middle School in 1998. Johnson  says he’s a victim of violence and wants out of the Benton County Jail. Johnson is charged theft by receiving, financial identity fraud and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
