More than two years after Arkansas Tech University student Nona Dirksmeyer was slain in her Russellville apartment and a year after her boyfriend was acquitted of killing her, a special prosecutor on charged Gary Dunn of Dover with capital murder.

Today’s Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that North Little Rock has to date spent $2.8 million on the Arkansas Inland Maritime Museum, home to the USS Razorback

Scott Ford, chief executive officer of Alltel earned almost $194 million last year in income and other pay in connection with the Little Rock telecommunications company’s sale to two private-equity firms, according to an analysis of Alltel federal filings.

Verizon has offered to honor existing Alltel roaming agreements with rural carriers until the closing date of the agreement or for two years, “which ever occurs later.” It’s a move to hurry along the takeover.

Roby Brock is reporting on TalkBusiness.net  that Mrs. Fields Original Cookies, which bought the Little Rock-based as TCBY in 2000, has officially declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Gov. Mike Beebe denied the clemency requests of two convicted killers Friday, including the second endorsed request to commute a man’s life-without-parole sentence over a 1993 North Little Rock shooting death.

Central Arkansas Transit Authority is asking North Little Rock for $138,000 annually over the next three years in order to accept a federal grant to expand bus service on weeknights and add some Sunday service.

Central Arkansas Water says the new higher rates are designed to encourage conservation.

Auctioneers at a Mayflower estate sale on Saturday morning had an interesting find in a locked suitcase, according to Conways’ Log Cabin Democrat. The items were 15 years old and included three blocks of military-grade C-4 plastic explosive, two tubes of a similar plastic explosive, a blasting cap and some dynamite.

The right to add a corporate name to the new Junction Bridge pedestrian walkway between downtown Little Rock and North Little Rock is up for sale. Price tag: $750,000.

The Chicago Bears have waived former Arkansas wide receiver Marcus Monk, the last player the team selected in the 2008 NFL Draft.
