Pat Lynch: an Arkansas Icon (and very humble too)

Friday evening early voting

Marie and I voted at the Roosevelt Thompson Library Friday evening and it was a 2 hour and 20 minute event.

For all the talk about the Lottery Amendment ballot title, it was clearly the easiest one to recognize. The measure on the $300 million bonds for Natural Resources Commission was also very clear. The one about revenue and appropriations is the measure for annual sessions. The one for unmarried foster and adoptive parents was fairly clear.

The ballot is not that long. Early voting continues tomorrow at various locations and Monday at the courthouse.

LRPD Police blotter

Another bad one in the capitol city.

On 10-30-2008 Shymeccah Williams knocked on the door of a neighbor and when he opened his door he found Williams covered in blood and bleeding.  Officers and MEMS responded and Williams was transported to Baptist Hospital where she is listed in extreme critical condition with swelling of the brain and extensive facial injuries.  Detectives learned that Williams has had ongoing problems with her ex-boyfriend. Detectives believe this is a domestic crime and they are seeking an ex-boyfriend for questioning. No arrests at this time and this incident is not related to any other incident.

A glance at the Friday morning headlines

This has been quite a week. I hope you were able to see the FOX 16 package on Anne Pressly’s funeral in the 9 PM news. It is always remarkable when religion gets properly presented, and I am not saying that the media is a bunch of commie bastards. It is difficult to understand and present theological points and FOX 16 did an excellent job of editing Bishop Philip Jones’ remarks. Jones observed how Jesus’ death on the cross confronted violence and evil in the world. It was well said and nicely presented. You can view it online here. Her employer, KATV did such a fine profile on Ms. Pressly. My goodness, station manager from everlasting Dale Nicholson got all choked up. I did not know Anne Pressly, but she must have been quite an exceptional individual.

The search for my new third job continues and I do appreciate your suggestions. This is bound to be a great weekend, but first a little news.
