Brummett on left wing media

Since I am way past ever holding a grudge, there is no hard feelings about Mr. Brummett’s probably unintentional slight in today’s column. In outlining the undoubted dominance and control over most major media by right-wing forces, he entirely overlooked the field of radio.

Granted, my morning newscasts are completely straight-up with no opinion whatsoever. When people listen to news, that is exactly what they deserve. My columns in the Democrat-Gazette are something entirely different and folks expect opinions in that venue. Most anywhere other than the deep south, I would not generally be considered as a liberal. Nonetheless, I like to think of myself as, at least, progressive.

You see, the world really DOES revolve around Pat Lynch, doesn’t it?

Impact of Mississippi auto plants

You may think times are hard. OK, how about in Mississippi where there are special job training programs for specific auto plants and big government handouts. We’re not saying this is the best way for a state to do business, but the results are in the jobs.

Jackson’s Clarion-Ledger files a report that you might want to consider.

Toyota Tsusho America’s announcement Friday as the sixth supplier for the $1.3 billion Toyota vehicle plant being built near Tupelo brings the number of new jobs to nearly 3,400 for northeast Mississippi.

The Toyota plant is expected to employ at least 2,000 people initially. Toyota Tsusho America will hire up to 70, and the other announced suppliers expect to hire a combined 1,300.
