Georgia congressman warns of Obama dictatorship

First of all, this is on the level. It’s an AP report, for cryin’ out loud.

Second, having just won an election I would have considered impossible as recently as Labor Day, I am wondering if Democrats are really this smart.

This guys needs to get out a little more. (You don’t really think Democrats are this organized, do you?)

WASHINGTON (AP) — A Republican congressman from Georgia said Monday he fears that President-elect Obama will establish a Gestapo-like security force to impose a Marxist or fascist dictatorship.

“It may sound a bit crazy and off base, but the thing is, he’s the one who proposed this national security force,” Rep. Paul Broun said of Obama in an interview Monday with The Associated Press. “I’m just trying to bring attention to the fact that we may — may not, I hope not — but we may have a problem with that type of philosophy of radical socialism or Marxism.”

Broun cited a July speech by Obama that has circulated on the Internet in which the then-Democratic presidential candidate called for a civilian force to take some of the national security burden off the military.

“That’s exactly what Hitler did in Nazi Germany and it’s exactly what the Soviet Union did,” Broun said. “When he’s proposing to have a national security force that’s answering to him, that is as strong as the U.S. military, he’s showing me signs of being Marxist.”

Water rescue near Clinton Library

The routine business of the day has kept me busy, but there is a rescue operation underway near the Clinton Library. There may be a body in the water. If memory serves, one of the victims of the I430 accident in which three workers were lost has never been recovered. We will see.

UPDATE 3:44 the body may have been spotted.

UPDATE 3:56 NLR has dispatched another boat. Looks like thee is a body.

UPDATE 4:06  Now I honest-to-goodness do not want to be seen as taking this lightly. I just report the facts. NLR and LR have both dispatched extra people, the sheriff is in the mix, and there has been discussion of a diver. If you are in the area, that’s what’s happening.
