Gov. Mike Beebe says Arkansas now ranks 46th in per-capita personal income, up from 47th last year.

According to Business Week, the Little Rock-North Little Rock-Conway metro area is ranked fourth overall in their listing of the “Forty Strongest U.S. Metro Economies.”

From July to October, Sen. Blanche Lincoln’s poll numbers slipped according to the Talk Business Quarterly Poll of 600 likely Arkansas voters. Lincoln had a favorable rating of 42% and an unfavorable rating of 46%. Ten percent had no opinion.

The Arkansas Board of Corrections says it will cut its budget $6.3 million by not filling positions, reducing its supplies and not opening the new Malvern Unit’s 360 beds

Dr. Dan Rahn is now the chancellor of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Rahn’s base pay is $600,000, with another $100,000 annual deferred compensation. He’ll also get a $25,000 housing allowance yearly.

Arkansas Advocates for Children and Family reports that ignorance of the federal earned income tax credit and triple-digit interest rapid refunds charged by tax return preparers are costing the state’s low income population $200 million a year.

The National Association of Free Clinics has set up a toll-free phone line for people who don’t have health insurance to make an appointment at the Little Rock free medical clinic on Saturday, Nov. 21, at the Statehouse Convention Center. To make an appointment, call 1-877-236-7617.

Two Pine Bluff city department heads and the chief of police are in violation of a 2000 city ordinance that requires them to live within the city limits.

Ronald Yee, a former chief financial officer for ValueAct Capital Partners of San Francisco, has been accused by the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission of leaking inside information concerning Acxiom Corp. of Little Rock. The SEC says Yee and six relatives and friends collectively reaped more than $8 million in illicit profits from unlawful trades.

Jury selection continues today in the trail of Curtis Vance in the slaying of Ann Pressly. Trial is expected to begin Wednesday.

A special prosecutor will be appointed to review the case of three Razorbacks basketball players accused by a woman of raping her at a University of Arkansas fraternity party Aug. 27.

A man accused of shooting of a Fort Smith police officer is being held in Tucumcari on a $1 million bond after police say he turned himself in New Mexico.

Miller County authorities investigating a deadly nightclub shooting near Texarkana say witnesses apparently are scared to come forward.

The two shipping containers stolen from Conway on Oct. 24 have been located. The first container was located in Miami, Fla., and was empty of its contents: several thousand cases of feminine hygiene products belonging to Kimberly-Clark.  The other container and its similar contents were found intact in Marshall County, Mississippi
