Blanche Lincoln Win Sparks Furious Sniping Between White House, Labor

First, I support organized labor. I typically for Democratic, but not always. I voted for Blanche Lincoln even though her record is far from perfect. Having said that, I am prepared to expound on the giant flushing sound of $10 million going down the drain.

Arkansans do not like it when outsiders start messing with their elections. The unashamed strong-arm advertising cost Bill Halter dearly. This is a largely rural state and most folks are not unionized and see no real need for unions. I do not agree with that position, but you play the ball where it lies.

Outsiders do not “get” Arkansas Politics. Bill Halter is an outsider. He was born here and moved away. Halter made his money someplace else and blew back in to win an election – any election. His sole public accomplishment is to propose a gambling scheme that may yet prove unsatisfactory.

Arkansans will put up with a certain amount of liberalism, if they think you really care about them and if you are, at least to some extent, one of them. Blanche is the typical Arkansan. She is conflicted. The Senator is hardly a liberal and Halter cast himself as a full on leftist.

Had Halter won, he would have suffered the mother of electoral humiliations at the hands of John Boozman. I am not mad about Blanche, but I voted for her in hopes of permanently surrendering this important senate seat to a man whose only loyalty is the big money national Republicans. In other words, he is even worse than Blanche Lincoln.

Here is the national story.
