John Robinson from the National Weather Service in North Little Rock observes,
Once again, worsening conditions are depicted. For the first time, "Exceptional" drought, the worst category, has appeared over part of the Arkansas River Valley. Note that the closing time for data is 6 AM Tuesday, although the Drought Monitor is not issued until Thursday morning. Thus, all the rain that fell throguh 6 AM Tuesday has been taken into account in this week's Drought Monitor. Since then, rainfall has been only very spotty, and primarily over the southeastern half of Arkansas. Not exactly good news.
