FOR Medical Marijuana

Except for the fact that real people are involved, and suffering people at that, the campaign against medical marijuana would be pretty laughable. The fact is that an entire industry has grown up around the drug trade and incarceration – even prisons for profit operated by corporate interests. Did I mention the big drug companies? Do you suppose they are able to pass a few favors along to medical “professionals” who oppose medical marijuana? Well, of course, nothing like that could ever happen here!

The absurdity of the situation is absolutely breathtaking. The opponents of the ballot measure favor subjecting sick people to powerful drugs that make your hair fall out, weaken the body, make you vomit for days on end, sometimes cause one to be so sick they cannot work, and generally debilitate (dare I say “torture”?) those who are suffering from cancer. Marijuana makes some patient’s life a little easier but we must not allow it! Marijuana is a gateway drug to stronger stuff, or so the story goes. Chemotherapy is a gateway drug to despair, and, oh by the way, it is also carcinogenic and just might kill ya’.

Jerry Cox and the Family Council are against the measure. Sometimes Jerry is right and I am pleased to support him whenever that happens. This time he is wrong. The natural remedy should be available for sick people. It is unfortunate that Mr. Cox is actually harming his essential function, to oppose abortion, by promoting religious interference in a harmless (but essential) personal choice. Some casual observers will think that the religious conservative movement not only wants to control contraception, but even useful plants and herbs that might help out very ill folks.

The way cancer patients are treated is a scandal and ought to be a source of national shame. I voted “for” medical marijuana and you should too.

Correct and rational thinking, as usual, Lyncho. Funny how morphine and other highly addictive drugs can be used and controlled, but a safe, non-addictive, natural plant is so stigmatized that it’s beneficial use is outlawed.

  2. Butch Stone says:

Jim Cox is an liar. Every word in the Video Jim Cox and The Family Council people released, and every word out of his mouth was a LIE. Wen he lies in order to decieve other people, that is not demonstrating FAMILY VALUES, Lies are SATANS tools and Values. SATAN DOES NOT SMOKE POT Either. Perhaps HE SHOULD.

Wake up people! All the government is doing is taking care of big drug corps; not the people they represent. So much for doing what the people want.80% of people agree pot should be legal for medical reasons. At some point we need to get off our backsides and do something about corporate run government!
