Lieutenant Governor Bill Halter has officially filed to run for United States Senate. Senator Lincoln opened her campaign office to the tune of Bruce Springstein’s “No Surrender” and also filed her paperwork. Republican Senatorial candidate John Boozman was among the first day appearances.

Republican Second District Congressional candidate Tim Griffin  arrived an hour early and was the first politician to make his intentions official.

Democrat Shame Broadway is running for Lieutenant Governor.

L.T. Simes of Helena-West Helena, suspended without pay for judicial ethics violations and facing further proceedings, has filed again for his seat.

Gov. Mike Beebe has vetoed SB 130, which proposed to tap the state central services fund for $1.6 million to pay for reapportionment costs.

The Clinton Presidential Library is hosting a temporary exhibit commemorating the Oklahoma City Federal Building bombing The display will continue until June 1.

Dillard’s recorded a fourth quarter profit of $79.5 million.  One year ago, Dillard’s lost $149.3 million. For the mall retailer’s most active sales period, revenue declined to $1.8 billion from $2 billion one year earlier.

A lawsuit filed by an Arkansas woman against Direct TV has been moved to federal court. The lawsuit alleges that DirecTV holds customers to a contract that they need a magnifying glass and the Internet to read.

A 3-year-old child is in stable but critical condition in a Little Rock hospital, while both parents are jailed on charges of battery and hindering apprehension in Fort Smith.
