Sen. Lincoln works for Arkansas

“This is a prime example of what it means for Arkansas to have the Chairmanship of the Agriculture Committee. Rice farmers were hit hard by weather related losses and the existing programs didn’t work to address our needs,” Arkansas Rice Federation Chairman Gary Sebree, a Stuttgart area farmer, said.

Stuttgart, Ark. —

Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced an agriculture disaster assistance program for rice, cotton, soybeans and sweet potatoes in counties that received USDA disaster declarations in 2009, due to excessive moisture or flooding.

“This will mean millions of dollars for our state’s economy at a time we need it most.”
