Ann Curry’s ‘Today’ Exit: Steve Capus, NBC News President, Says ‘We Gave Her A Year To Prove Herself’

I do not watch early morning television (although I do sometimes catch Fr. Mitch on EWTN), and the chances of me ever watching “Today” on NBC are just about exactly zero. The handling of Ann Curry’s farewell was poorly conceived and executed. You can see it on YouTube, but I can’t put it here. Good-byes are just a sore spot with me these days.

It is hard to get up a full scale sob for Ms. Curry. After all, she walks away from the anchor chair with $10 million in annual hush money. She will have some ill-fitting title like “anchor-at-large.” It is a personal disappointment for Curry, who is obviously a professional journalist. In fact, that seems to have been her problem and therein lies the deeper concern over this embarrassing episode. (Most decent people would be embarrassed by any involvement in this mess.)

Steve Capus, NBC News President, summed it up. This will send chills up your spine.

Capus candidly told THR that he thought Curry had not been right for the job in many respects. He said he agreed with interviewer Marisa Guthrie that Curry had faltered in the cooking segments, movie star interviews and fluffy features that make up a large portion of “Today.”

Really a shame about Ann, but she just couldn’t get her head into the cooking segments. I guess there is no more war in Afghanistan or Iraq, no Euro crisis, no health care problems, no fracking, no more corruption at the nation’s largest investment institutions, and no more crumbling infrastructure. Good Lord in heaven forbid we hear any actual reporting on the real news.

Darn that little witch! Who does Ann Curry think she is anyway by trying to take her little fact-based stories about things that are actually happening and cram them down our throats? She got what was coming to her. Read it all on the link.

I also will never watch the Today show. I am about to boycott the entire channel. It is so low class what they are doing to her. It seems like they are trying to destroy her. They have lost me as a viewer. Hopefully there are lots of us. Let’s hurt them where the feel it with lower ratings.
