A new Constitutional option in the debt ceiling situation: July 29, 2011

Many sources are strongly suggesting the 14th Amendment solution for President Obama, even though he seems to have given that card away some time ago. I discuss a proposal in Politico.com that there is another section of the Constitution that should be seriously considered in this circumstance. There is also coverage of the Reid plan and a bit of commentary from Sen. Mark Pryor on it and his hope (gasp) to, perhaps, incorporate the Gang of Six into that legislation. Republicans are staging for another assault on regular people, so brace yourselves for the worst. There is news for Arkansas dove hunters from Steve “Wildman” Wilson. Give it a listen.

Sen. Mark Pryor on “the no new tax pledge”: July 28, 2011

There is quite a bit of Arkansas politics stuck away in this report of national political developments concerning the debt ceiling. Mark Pryor has a reasonable argument as to why members of congress who have signed the Norquist “no new taxes” pledge might want to change their minds. He also has a bit of an interesting development about Sen. Boozman. Speaker Boehner is being deserted by the Tea Party and he says some House hardliners want to create chaos in order to force Democrats into deeper program cuts and to pass a balanced budget amendment. The White House seems to rule out the 14th Amendment solution, although it is gaining in popularity. The President of Wal Mart, Mike Duke, testifies on possible consequences of a default and it ain’t a pretty picture.Listen here.

Time for a little chat with the hardcore right wing: Lynched! July 27, 2011

There is a load of political and other news concerning the debt ceiling. Today’s episode of Lynched! featured a bit of vintage Lyncho addressing conservatives and Tea Party members about their decision to allow the country to default on the obligations which congress has already passed. It is very sarcastic and you will (probably) laugh uproariously! You gotta’ listen!
